My experience at HP was definitely one that I’m going to remember, I learned a lot and the day was a lot of fun. We got to the convention in the morning and we learned what our challenge was it was, “How do we build a more sustainable future?”. We had the whole day to build and find a solution. My group came up with multiple ideas, but the one idea we settled on was making a sustainable homeless shelter. The day was super productive and I enjoyed working with all of HP’s equipment and getting familiar with it. I made a lot of good connections and met some really cool people! This is something that I would definitely do again if I got the chance to!

Today was our very first competitive robotics competition. We started off the day at 9:00 am and went until 2:00pm. We had two teams a blue alliance and a red one as well. We learned a lot of things like how to set up the play field properly!
Considering we only had 2 months to build and the other teams got 1 year to build and test their robot. This day was the first time we got to test our robot and we got 3rd and 4th place!
Today me and some of my fellow classmates presented to the board of trustees and
superintendent. We told them all about the Mechatronics academy and everything we've learned about throughout the year.
Today was an amazing experience being able to present to the board office! It was a great opportunity to expand the board's knowledge on our academies and how it affects me and the way I learn. I was honoured to be presenting today, I hope the board enjoyed our presentations as much as I enjoyed presenting to them!
What is a S.M.A.R.T Goal? Well it's a goal you come up with so that you can achieve something in a reasonable amount of time, hard work, plus something that is quite attainable. While we were at our academy retreat we had to come up with 2 S.M.A.R.T goals; one goal for our academy we could achieve and one personal goal for ourselves. My two goals are learning to solder in Mechatronics for my academy goal, and my personal goal is to achieve my silver level award for The Duke Of Edinburghs Award program.
Goal #1- Personal Goal S- My goal is to achieve my silver level award for The Duke Of Edinburgh Award program M- I will keep track of it in my award book A- It will be attainable if I work hard every week and complete my volunteer, extra curricular, skills and adventurous journey hours. R- It is worth awhile it will also help me achieve gold level and also will look great on resumes and any other applications T-I will complete it by next year in July Paul Davis is a member IET, and he came to our school today to teach us about internet safety. Also to show us the outcomes of having a bad digital footprint. He explained how to have a positive digital footprint, but also that if you have a bad digital footprint and that just because you simply "delete" something does not necessarily mean that it is gone. The files you may delete will come back haunt you in the future and have possible effects on your possibilities on getting a job. He also told us how we can get hacked and tracked through our phones and laptops.
Everything he told us about was common knowledge I already knew, it just really astonished and stunned me how many people were affected by it and didn't know about it at all. We went on a field trip last week to the Ed centre. We learned how to promote ourselves positively through social media, and how the things we post have an effect on our digital footprint. We also had learned how to take professional head shots. The whole day was very informative and I really enjoyed it, I just wished instead of it being a full day I would've enjoyed it more if it was only a half day.
